With summer temperatures at its highest, putting a meal together in the heat is something no one looks forward to doing. Here are a variety of meals, snacks, and desserts that you will be able to put together at home in less than an hour and avoid the sticky hot air outside.

1. Strawberry Bingsu

Bingsu, a Korean shaved ice treat, is one of the most popular summertime desserts in Korea. Compared to traditional shaved ice such as snow cones or kakigori, Bingsu is much healthier. Bingsu ice is often made from milk, which makes the flavor more rich. It is then covered with various toppings such as: fresh fruits, rice cakes, sweet sauces and more. In this particular recipe, strawberries are the main ingredient, but feel free to use a different fruit and and more toppings. For this recipe you’ll need milk, sugar, a ziploc bag, and strawberries. If you would like a little more flavor, you can also add sweetened condensed milk to your bowl. If you would like a quick and easy way to beat the heat, blending a few ice cubes and adding your favorite fruits is the way to do it.

3. Apple Nachos

Apple nachos are the perfect summer twist on your average Mexican nachos. Instead of the hot chilli or warm nacho chips, apple nachos can be served cool – a perfect way to forget about the scorching hot weather. Replace the nacho chips with crisp and cool apple slices, and the guacamole and salsa with peanut butter and chocolate chips. In small amounts, they are healthy options, and comprise an irresistible snack to munch on. It will take less than ten minutes to prepare, but it will probably take you even less to gulp down.
