Appreciation for All Skin and Body Types

 

There’s always a set image, persona, body type, height, and etc. Our society has reached the point where there is constant shaming regarding appearances. It makes us question whether we are even gorgeous – “Am I too fat, too skinny, too pale, too dark?”

Well, not everyone is perfect. We’ve all got our flaws and weaknesses, but those surely aren’t the only things that define us. We’ve also got our strengths, which we should definitely appreciate and take pride in. In our society, every human being looks different. From different traits to different images, I can for sure say that there is no one in this world who has the same body structure and skin color as another. Today, the fashion/beauty industry is a big contributor in helping create products focusing on diversity and self-expression.

The fashion industries are meeting and exceeding customer expectations by creating different sizes of the same clothing items for many to enjoy and wear. To illustrate, J.Crew recently wanted to promote and showcase their new launch by supporting different body types so it successfully launched a new clothing line with sizes ranging from XXS to 5XL. They chose to collaborate with the plus size fashion brand, Universal Standard, in creating these clothing items. Soon after the launch, it caught many eyes world wide, but most importantly notified other brands to step up their own game in the fashion industry.

Furthermore, we all know the great artist Rihanna. During fall of 2017, Rihanna launched her new makeup line, Fenty Beauty, which she worked on for multiple years. It was largely successful in supplying more diversity and darker shades for the community, which had been the need and concern of customers for many years. An instant hit with the public, her line was critically acclaimed and sold out within days.

Just a several years ago, there weren’t enough shades and sizes for some people to happily wear, but now, fashion and beauty industries are stepping up their game.  Not only do they cater to the needs of every customer, but they also encourage customers to love themselves. You should appreciate every bit of yourself and keep in mind that there are others who support for who you are, and not just how you look.
